Senator Marsh, born in Wheeling, West Virginia, on September 2, 1956, is serving his fourth term in the Senate. He is a graduate of Auburn University and is the owner of Industrial Plating Co., Inc. in Anniston. Senator Marsh and his wife Ginger are the parents of two children: Justin and Christine. He is an Episcopalian, a Republican and a member of Greater Anniston Business and Professional Association.
Senator Marsh was elected President Pro Tempore of the Senate on December 8, 2010, and pursuant to constitutional provision, again on January 11, 2011, on the first day of the 2011 Organizational Session.
During his first term as Senate President Pro Tem, Marsh significantly reduced spending by cutting his budget 65 percent, and reducing the staff of more than 40 under former leadership down to four, saving roughly $100,000 a month in personnel costs.
